Marilena Vecchi
Qualified Tourist Guide Florence
I'm a Tuscan lady who's been living in Florence for 35 years now and working as a fully licenced guide for 17 years. I find this is a perfect job to link my passion for art to my knowledge in foreign languages. I have a solid background in History and Art History that I obtained at Florence University. My knowledge in foreign languages comes instead from the School for Interpreters of Florence and a number of stays abroad: I speak and work in English, German and Spanish, and Italian of course. After an experience as an interpreter, I had a ten-year- long experience in a publishing house working as an editor and a translater in the art book department. I also wrote books on Florence arts and crafts tours.
I started working as a guide in 1997. Currently I offer my guests every kind of tours in and around Florence: monuments, museums, gardens and shops. I feel at home in the Uffizi Gallery as well as in the Accademy museum, though I like so much to explore less known museums too or off the beaten path itineraries.
I love gardens and I followed qualification courses on historical gardens and Renaissance art. Also I give special tours for children with tailormade visits to the highlights of Florence.
I am very fond of my city and love sharing my passion with my guests. If you come, we'll explore Florence together and make your trip an unforgettable experience.
